Aubrey is a city in Denton County, Texas. The population was 1,500 at the 2000 census.
The area was first settled in 1842 by William and Mary Larner on a site within the Peters' Colony grant. In 1844, the A. W. Perry family claimed land in the area around Trinity Mills, where, in partnership with Wade H. Witt, a mill was established.
Numerous horse farms are located in and around Aubrey. Aubrey’s annual Peanut Festival, and other outdoor recreational activities such as golf courses, fishing, camp sites and hiking makes this a pleasant town to live and visit for the Dallas Metro area population. This richness of activity has also affected the demand on the residential market as the 2007 residential home price average has increased to $228,066.
